It definitely inspires you to blog! Being snowed in definitely does not leave you with a lot to do. As I type this, at a Panera Bread, the parking lot is still filled with piles of snow that are eight, ten and even fifteen feet high. At home, our entire yard is covered in two, three and four foot snow drifts. Our swing set is half-buried, and God only knows where our picnic table went to. And Mother Nature isn’t done yet. According to Accu Weather, we’re due to get another 8-12″ over the course of the next three days. Yay. Not. But it gives me a good opportunity to blog, write up product reviews, write articles on baby shower games, etc. I’m too busy during weather like this to come down with cabin fever!
For those of you who like making money blogging, have you checked out Sponsored Tweets? It’s just what it sounds like — monetizing your Twitter account! Have at it! I’ve already reached the $50 cash-out three times, and I’m currently $.30 away from cashing out a fourth time!
I used to snicker when I saw people wearing clogs. But now that I’m older and have days where I’m just interested in relaxing and being comfortable, I can definitely see the appeal of professional clogs. My ideal pair of professional clogs would be fur lined and probably a dark brown suede in color. They’d also have a slight heel, so I could wear them for work or for play.
I actually have a pair of clogs that I love. They’re Mudd clogs, butternut brown suede on the outside and cream sherpa-lined on the inside. I’ve had them since January 2005, and even though one of the seams has opened up along the top of the right shoe, they’re both still perfectly functional — and still quite comfortable!
Do you have a pair of shoes that you just can’t part with?
If there’s one thing I have learned about the internet, it’s that there’s always a way to save money on a purchase. Whether you buy certain items to qualify for certain discounts, or you purchase something on a certain date to get free shipping, or you use coupon codes found on other blogs or on forums, there’s almost always a way to lower the total price you pay.
So let’s talk about saving money on weight loss. First, purchase high quality meats, vegetables and lean sides. While pricer than cheaper, poor quality meats, veggies and sides, they are nutritionally superior, and are almost always infinitely more satisfying for your appetite. And if you do buy weight loss products online, such as HCG for weight loss, shop at hcgsupplies.com, then use coupon code thankyou to save $15.00 off a purchase of $250.00 or more!
So, it’s Valentine’s Day. And nerd that I am, I’m sitting here blogging. But, and no offense to my wonderful husband, I don’t think I could possibly spend every waking moment of Valentine’s Day celebrating it. So, what are our plans for today? Well, we’re going out to dinner tonight. I’m currently fighting off pneumonia, and we have like three feet of snow outside, so we’ll probably keep things pretty low-key, minus our dinner out later. As far as gifts go, I have something nice for him, and I hope there is some personalized jewelry for me. ♥
We have kids, and we also celebrate Valentine’s Day with them. We give them candy and little chocolates, and earlier this weekend my daughter and I made heart-shaped rice krispie treats, and both my daughter and my son decorated sugar cookies with Valentine’s Day themed sprinkles.
What do you do for Valentine’s Day?
With Valentine’s Day less than twelve hours away, I bet you’re definitely hearing the tick-tock of the clock if you haven’t purchased a gift yet. Man, I’m bad with last minute gifts, but even if I don’t wait this long to get a gift for the one I love! For the record, I got my husband a fabulous ThinkGeek hoodie that I’ll know he’ll love the look of and be quite comfortable in, a card, and I baked him some homemade goodies. We’re also going out to dinner at a local restaurant that we first tried last fall.
If you’re in a bind for a last minute Valentine’s Day gift, consider the gift of titanium! Titanium rings are stylish and are always in fashion. They’re available in numerous styles and designs, so no matter what your guy’s tastes run to, you’re bound to be able to find a ring that complements his style perfectly! Good luck, and happy shopping!
If you read my last entry on video blogs, you’ve probably given some thought to doing your own video blogs, but may then have gotten confused on where exactly to put those videos. You could just upload the un-encoded “raw” videos to your website and use some type of Flash or CMS plugin to display it. Or… take your pick of any of the following free video hosting websites:
Of the six, Vimeo is my favorite. Flickr’s primary focus is on photos, Zoomr is a Flickr knock-off, YouTube is too commercialized, and I’m not too into the ads and commercialism of Revver and Photobucket. Vimeo is also the easiest to use, with a pretty, clean, minimalistic and easy-to-navigate layout.
Worth noting: while Vimeo accounts are free, there are upload & album/group limitations. To get a 500GB/week upload limit and unlimited albums and groups, as well as quicker video processing, you’ll definitely want to upgrade to a “plus” account ($9.95/mo or $59.95/yr)!
I blog for a living and I blog because I love to blog, but sometimes it’s hard to do either when I’m interested in shopping instead. A friend of mine often links me to the latest Woot deals, so then I get sidetracked and look at them. Or I’ll see what’s on sale with Alight.com or FashionBug.com. Or I may have to write about a particular subject, like wedding favors, or professional clogs, and get wrapped up in checking out all of the beautiful candles and such that most wedding favor sites offer.
Other times, like tonight, I’ll be in the midst of blogging when my husband comes home from work, and he’ll dump a pile of Sunday ads and coupon flyers in my lap, and next thing I know I’m checking out the sales instead of finishing my blog entry.
Do you get easily sidetracked from blogging?
CSS galleries are online galleries that showcase blogs and general websites that creatively and expertly use CSS. I usually check out CSS galleries when I’m interested in finding inspiring CSS designs, or general inspiration to give me some direction to start with when designing a layout for one of my own blogs. But more recently I’ve found that CSS galleries can be used to promote your own blog! In most cases submission rules are simple enough: your site must be designed using CSS only, and should be decent looking. I’ve submitted several of my self-designed blogs to over a dozen galleries, and I’ve only had rejections from two. Not bad, right?
Without further ado, here’s a brief list of some of my favorite CSS galleries:
So, Valentine’s Day is less than a week away. Have you picked out a gift for the l♥ve of your life? To be honest, I’m still looking around. My husband has a lot, between gifts I’ve gotten him in the past, and things he’s bought for himself or I’ve gotten him. So what’s left? Well, titanium jewelery is certainly interesting. I’m not thinking of mens wedding bands, since my husband and I have gold wedding bands, but I do like other types of titanium jewelry. My husband generally doesn’t dress up, so cuff links and tie pins are out of the question, but that still leaves rings or maybe a special type of bracelet or necklace.
Help, people! I know this is a blog about blogs, but that doesn’t mean you can’t put down the SEO techniques and Google Page Rank checker for a minute and help me come up with a great Valentine’s Day gift for my husband!
I love music. When I’m in the car, I’m listening to my iPod or to a local radio station. At home, if the television isn’t on, I play music from an iHome that I have in our kitchen. Or, I’ll simply play music from my laptop. And when my laptop is on, you better believe I have iTunes fired up and music going. Right now, for instance, I’m listening to a remix of “Hot Stuff” by Pussycat Dolls. From the lyrics, it’s all about getting your man back. Well ladies, if you do get a good man back, or you don’t want to let a good man get away, slap some mens wedding bands on him as soon as possible!
Music can definitely get you in the mood for blogging or writing in general. What do you think? Does music help you with your productivity, or does it wind up being a distraction?
