Bloggers who live in Philadelphia are in outrage after Philadelphia has begun to levy a tax on them. As it turns out, this business “privilege” tax has always existed; it has just never been levied against bloggers before. I can see why bloggers who make less than $100 a year are annoyed, to say the least, at the prospect of having to shell out $50 per year in order to legally make money blogging, but at the same time I can see the city’s POV. They can’t pick and choose who gets taxed and who doesn’t, because how on earth is that fair?
Fill in the blank: If I had a nickel for every time I… Got stuck behind some stupid slow tourist, I’d be a millionaire. If you want to gawk at the Amish, fine, gawk away, but pull the hell over and get out of my way first!
What do you think about while you exercise? To be honest, I don’t think of much! I usually zone out listening to music. Although come to think of it, I’ll think of family, swimming, smaller clothing sizes, and I’ll even draft future blog entries in my head (too bad I don’t have a way of writing them down, because I almost always forget them!).
What are 5 things you love about your spouse/partner/significant other (or children or pet)? I love how he smells, how good he feels to be close to, how he laughs over funny House episodes, how well he cooks (when he does it), and how much he loves me.
It has been a long week. No, scratch that: a long month. No, scratch that: a long year. I’ve dealt with a lot in the past year, including a family death, surgery, financial issues, job changes, etc., and man, I am exhausted. I look forward to the weekends, because it means being able to settle in and spend a lot of time doing very little.
What do you like to do on the weekends? Are you the type to kick back and relax — something I’m forcing myself to do more of, as I’ve turned into a bit of a workaholic — or do you keep on truckin’, even on the days of rest?
One of the perks of being so immersed in the blogging world is continually being exposed to awesome online shopping destinations. In no particular order, here are a few of my favorites:
- Etsy (awesome for handmade items, such as this awesome heart necklace)
- Survival of the Hippest
What are your favorite online shopping destinations?
Even if you already own a laptop, which is portable enough in its own right, you may still be wondering if a netbook is right for you. I’ve had an HP Mini 311 since April, and even though I have a laptop that I adore (I’m using it right now, in fact), I am still very glad that I have a netbook. While it doesn’t harness the power that my laptop does, it has more than enough to let me check email, surf the internet, do work-related tasks, even play music on iTunes and process photos (albeit slowly) in Adobe Photoshop CS.
My netbook has a much better battery life than my laptop — 4-5 hours, easily, as opposed to my laptop’s 2.5ish hours. Best of all, it’s small and light enough to stick in my purse and take with me!
So would I recommend a netbook? Absolutely. If you want one but don’t want to spend a fortune, check out this eMachines EM250 for just $209.00 from Buy.com!
