It isn’t quite Winter yet although it sure feels like it. Winter officially begins on Saturday, December 21st. Only 3 days from now. I live in an area where we can get a lot of snow. I have been snowed in before, (only for half a day but still), it is good to be prepared in case it would be longer. I have kids in the house and it would be unbearable if they were hungry. I get so crabby when I am hungry I would not be able to stand myself either. I found a food for emergency preparedness kit online and I bought two of them. One for the vehicle and one for the house. The shelf life is 25 years so it will keep awhile. Hopefully it will go bad before I need it.
I also keep a winter survival kit in my vehicle it contains;
- Matches- the plan is to melt the frozen water if necessary with the candle and use it for heat, brilliant I know.
- Granola Bars
- Candy Bars
- Diapers, you never know, it is cleaner than having to go in a bucket.
- Plastic bags
- 2 Blankets
I am always looking for different ideas to add to the kit. Here is a great site I found, yes I will be updating my kit. Make your own Winter Survival Vehicle Kit.
