If you manage a brand page on Facebook, you may have recently noticed a loss of traffic to your page. Similar to your site on Google, Facebook has now updated it’s algorithm. On December 2, 2013 Facebook’s blog post, “News Feed FYI: Helping You Find More News to Talk About”, Facebook said it would put more articles by publishers in the newsfeed, ranking them by how much they are clicked on.
Facebooks solution to the problem of business pages not being seen in the newsfeed? Facebook Ads.
According to Business Insider: “Facebook’s News Feed tweak wasn’t only about getting “higher quality content” in the News feed. It was as much about reducing the reach of free ads on Facebook. Now, if a brand wants exposure on Facebook, it’s going to have to buy it from Facebook.”
‘Tis the holiday shopping season. It is in full swing, whether you like it or not. Although the holidays are extremely fun, they can also be extremely stressful. I tend to worry to much about what to gift people with or how much money to spend, by the time it’s all said and done my bank account gets down there, in an uncomfortable zone I hate being in. But hey, that’s the holidays, right?!
I am thankful that I have the opportunity to gift my friends and family but sometimes it’s downright draining. To relieve some stress from work, blogging and holidays I decided to gift myself with a few massages in Orange County. My favorites are deep tissue and hot stone, it hits the spot every time. If you have never gotten a massage, you really should. You will not believe how zen you feel afterwards. You could be running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off and after your massage you will completely forget all about your stress.
In one of my college courses, a marketing class I took last Spring, we had to do a huge project. This project was marketing for a real small business in the area. We were to create marketing strategy plans, just as a real marketing firm would do, and work in groups to create the best plan. This project took the entire semester and was compiled of weekly group meetings where we brainstormed ideas to plan our strategy as a group. We were then to present it to the business owner herself, which was nerve wrecking.
The project showed us how difficult and costly it can be to market, especially for a small local business. We didn’t want to put all of our eggs in one basket so we experimented with online marketing, a local exhibit company for trade shows, local radio advertising, newspaper advertising and creative ways to put posters up in local restaurants and bars. Being in a “grown up” marketing position, I look back to that specific project and thought it was so stupid at the time. Now, I realize how important it was and how realistic it was. I always thought it would be different being in that grown up position, but I have realized it’s not! My message of the day? Pay attention to your school projects, you never know what you will learn from them.
When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, I’m working on it. Rather than completely changing my lifestyle overnight I’m making small strides to live a long lasting healthy life. I have been incorporating more vegetables and organic meats into my diet and trying to exercise 3-4 times per week. I don’t want to drastically change because I know I won’t keep up with it. I’m not willing to cut out snacks or “bad foods” forever. I still love my pizza and candy!
I have also been making my own soaps and lotions to get away from store bought products with unknown ingredients. I have noticed my skin is much more hydrated and I will continue making my own beauty goods. I have also started to get regular massages and body treatments Huntington Beach offers. By pushing out toxins in my body with body treatments, such as a body wrap, along with regular exercise, I have noticed I haven’t been sick yet. It just goes to show that when you make small steps, you stick with the plan. Start by adding more vitamins to your diet, drinking more water, or walking every morning. Although these seem like miniscule tasks, you will convert to a healthier lifestyle that sticks.
I am a huge believer in inspiration. Every day I find something that inspires me, whether that be going on a short walk, playing with my dog or reading a magazine. I find that images and nature inspire me the most and I have also noticed that I feel most inspired in the later morning hours. (weird, right?)
Fall is the most inspirational time of the year, if you ask me. It’s like there is something in the air during this time, besides allergens of course. Of course, I found another infographic for ya’ll. It lays out ways to stay inspired, this is very important folks. Sometimes you need to step back from your busy life, evaluate and relax. Keep these tips in mind to lead a more inspiring life.
